This feature is more helpful for notifying you that you're connected to the online matchmaking service(see Step Four).
Nodes represent players that you may connect to, if the in-game conditions(level range, boss alive, invasion timer is 0) are met. Additionally, it displays your current node count. Not only does this let you know when an obvious cheater has entered your world, it lets you kick them out. DSfix's AA may need to be switched to different modes, depending on the Graphics Card/Drivers, as a crash can occur. Note: DSfix's AA and Dark Souls' AA are not the same setting. If you're having trouble starting the game and completing Step One, download Morten242's User Interface for DSFix [edit the in-game AA setting from outside of the game. He made this guide to help get you started in configuring the mod(and possibly understand it better) Sajtt is someone who is very active in assisting with the everyday problems people report in the discussions section. Note that 60fps may cause minor bugs in the game - the most severe is a ladder glitch.
If you want Dark Souls at 60fps, in 4k, then there's even more reason to get this mod. This mod is absolutely necessary to edit all important graphics settings, specifically if your monitor refresh rate is an uncommon number, or if your computer struggles to run the game at a playable frame rate.
Windows 10 may come with its own version, but not all do. Get "WinRAR" from its official website and follow install instructions. Unzip and extract the contents into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA (just needs to end up in the DATA folder, if the pathing is different for you.)
